Landlords and agents are being asked to complete a survey about the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) to provide feedback for a review and update of the system.

HHSRS is a scoring system used by local authorities to rate health and safety risks in housing. The system assesses twenty nine categories of hazards including damp and mould growth, electrical, excess cold, fire and food safety. An assessment gives scores for hazards, and when a scores exceeds set values then local authorities will take enforcement action.

The results of the landlord survey will provide feedback for a two year project to review HHSRS. The review will update guidance provided for different stakeholder groups, training for assessors, new minimum standards and the fire safety standard.

Landlords and agents of all sizes are asked to complete the survey. The survey closes at the end of March 2021.
