Proposals have been submitted to convert a pair of listed buildings in central Leeds to student accommodation with 475 student bedrooms.

McLaren Properties has applied for full planning permission and list building consent for Leonardo Building and Thoresby House which previously housed council offices. If the company gains consent the properties would be redeveloped, extended and a new 11-storey building constructed in the car park. The accommodation will provide studio flats, cluster flats, communal areas and outdoor amenity space.

In 2018, planning permission was granted to turn the buildings into offices and to build a hotel on the car park, but these proposals were never implemented.
